Something New Is Starting in Boston
Junto Boston is a new social club for in-person connection in Boston, inspired by Ben Franklin's original Junto. A letter from the founders.
A letter from the founders
I have some news I've been sitting on for a little while, and I'm finally ready to share it.
So let's just say it plainly: this past week, Dustin and I both lost our jobs when Base abruptly closed its doors. We were told not to expect our final paychecks, and got little to no information about what to expect next. It was a rough week, honestly.
But instead of treating it as a setback, we've decided to see it as an opening: the push we needed to finally build something we've wanted to build for a long time, with someone we trust completely — our friend Fabio.
Yesterday, we officially incorporated Junto Boston.
Here's the idea. Boston is one of the most historic, most intellectually alive cities in the country, and yet so many of us find it surprisingly hard to actually meet people here. Junto Boston exists to change that.
The name comes from a club Benjamin Franklin started in Philadelphia in the 1700s — a small group that met regularly over dinner to debate the important issues of the day, from a place of mutual respect instead of division. That's the spirit we want to bring back: a room full of people who are there on purpose, having conversations that actually matter. It also happens to echo the Spanish word juntos, meaning together, which fits the idea just as well.
We're not officially launching yet. We're still building out the infrastructure to properly welcome members, and we'll share those details soon. But we didn't want to wait to start building community with you.
So this September, while we get everything ready behind the scenes, we're hosting five gatherings around Boston — and we'd love for you to be part of one:
