JUNTO SOCIAL, INC

Questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask before they apply. Anything not covered here, ask us and we'll tell you.

01 · THE CLUB

Junto is a membership social club in Boston. We bring people together over dinners, activities, and socials, on a regular calendar, with a membership we actually vet. The point is to make it easy to meet good people in this city and keep seeing them.

Two places. Ben Franklin's Junto, the club he started in 1727 so that curious people could talk and improve each other's lives. And the Spanish word junto: together.

People who want more real friendships in Boston and are willing to show up for them. Members come from all over the city and all kinds of work. What they have in common is that they like a long dinner, a new experience, and a room where people introduce themselves.

No. Junto hosts at restaurants, bars, and venues across Greater Boston, with new partner spots added regularly. Part of the value is that you keep discovering places you would not have found on your own.

It is not a networking group, a dating app, or a panel series. No pitching, no panels, no waitlist theatre.

02 · JOINING

Apply at join.juntoboston.com, or ask a current member to introduce you. The application takes a few minutes.

No. A referral from a member helps us get to know you faster, but plenty of members applied cold.

We review every application ourselves. If we already know you or you came in through a member, you may hear back quickly. If we don't know you yet, we'll invite you to a short membership call, about 15 minutes, with one of the founders. Once you're approved, you'll get a link to pick your plan and set up your membership.

A conversation, not an interview. We want to know what you're looking for, and you should get a feel for whether Junto is your kind of room. Ask us anything.

Curiosity, good manners, and a willingness to show up. We're not screening for job titles or where you went to school.

Most events are members only. A member can bring you as a guest to some events, and we occasionally open a social to friends of the club. If you want to see it first, ask us.

03 · MEMBERSHIP AND DUES

We share dues once you've applied, along with the plan options: monthly, quarterly, and annual. Everyone pays the same dues; longer plans come with extras like the option to pause. If you want the number before you apply, ask us and we'll tell you.

Membership itself: access to the full calendar, the member portal and app, introductions to other members, and partner perks around the city. Events are priced separately, so you pay for what you attend and nothing you don't.

Yes. Each event has its own price, shown when you book, which covers the venue, food, and drinks for that night. There is no minimum number of events you have to attend.

Yes. Quarterly and annual members can pause for up to three months a year at no charge, from the member portal. Monthly members can pause for up to three months as well for a small fee.

From the member portal or app, any time. Monthly plans end at the close of the current billing month; quarterly and annual plans run through the end of the term you paid for.

No.

There is a Founders Council for members who want to help build the club. It is by invitation only and its current cohort is full.

04 · EVENTS

Three kinds.

Dinners. Six members at one table, at a restaurant we've picked, with a conversation that goes somewhere. The best way to actually get to know people.

Activities. Curated experiences around the city: private museum tours, a cooking class, an art class, a behind-the-scenes tour of a Boston landmark, pickleball open play.

Socials. Larger gatherings at bars and venues around Boston where everyone comes together, with live music when we can get it.

Every week, with a full calendar released ahead of each month. You choose what to come to.

Through the member portal or the Junto app. Book a seat, pay for it, and it's yours. You'll get a reminder a few days before and a text on the day.

At many events, yes. Book your own seat first, then add a guest from the same booking.

Let us know. Cancel seven or more days ahead and you're refunded in full. Cancel inside seven days and we keep the seat cost, since the venue has already been paid, but there's no penalty. A no-show without notice carries a small fee, because an empty seat at a six-person dinner is a seat someone else wanted.

You'll hear from us by email and text, and we'll follow up with refund details.

No. Most members didn't when they joined. Every event is built so you can walk in alone and not stay that way for long: we use name tags, hosts make introductions, and dinners are small on purpose.

05 · BEING A MEMBER

Yes. Members use the member portal on the web and the Junto app for iPhone and Android to see the calendar, book events, build a profile, and message members they've met at events. You'll get a download link once you join.

In the app, once you've been to an event with someone, you can add them as a friend and message them directly. Members also introduce friends to the club, and those introductions carry weight when we review applications.

Yes, and every member agrees to it. Seven principles, the short version of which is: show up, be kind, keep what's said at the table at the table.

Three founders, all Boston people, who started it because they wanted the club to exist. You'll most likely meet one of us before you join, and all of us soon after.

Text us at 978-91-JUNTO or email members@juntoboston.com. A person, not a bot, gets back to you within a day.
